While everybody back in Silicon Valley was trying to stay dry during California’s recent weekend storm, two of Impekable’s developers got to spend the weekend in Las Vegas for the annual Consumer Electronics Show, a place for tech companies from all over to show off their latest innovations. And these companies came prepared with more innovations than a NowThis Future video.
Samsung 4D VR Ride, The fourth D stands for Dizzy
What’s having attendees line up by the herd at CES was Samsung’s virtual reality ride, which simulated experiences from roller coasters to space racing. The ride can spin you like a Blender Bottle ball to fully immerse you in the experience. The crazy loops and trippy visuals can make you nauseous, so opt to skip breakfast if you plan to try the ride out.
People of CES, Stylin’ and profilin’
It’s even a great place to show off the latest piece of technology you have. You don’t have to worry about looking like some weirdo. All your fellow techies would be more open to appreciating your brand-spanking new Air Trekkers. Showing off your openness to new inventions and technologies is actually encouraged. Get those smartwatches on, folks!
Power Rangers, Mighty Morphin Nostalgia
A lot of people who are making moves in the tech scene today probably enjoyed this show in their childhood. For some, it was their first intro into nerd culture with giant monsters, wrist communicators, and battle ready robots. At CES, there was a booth promoting the upcoming Power Rangers remake, which included this awesome Red Ranger! Whether the movie will be good or not, this display surely triggered moments of nostalgia for many.
LG OLED TV, 4K Magic in the Air
LG came through guns blazing with their extensive booth and 4K TV tunnel as the centerpiece. LG was smart in making this because they knew having some beautiful visuals that people can literally just walk into, get up close, take a selfie in it (or several) helps promote them. They may even make buyers out of people in the future who have seen how LG’s TV’s can be used for more than watching sports games. It’s an outright experience.
Razer Three Screen Laptop, Finally a laptop developers can work on!
Although Razer’s Project Valerie has been largely marketed as a laptop for gamers (which is understandable because this machine is POWERFUL). There are a lot of other possibilities our development team was excited about too. The multi-screen setup is ideal for displaying windows and editors needed for development. Windows like IDE (integrated development environment), the preview window that displays what you’re coding, and even version control or research.
Until next year, CES! It was fun!
